Sections of text below originally appeared on The Morgan Ranch, a now-defunct promotional site for DreamWorks' The Ring. Said sections are © the original author(s).
Ostensibly written by the niece of Anna Morgan, the website was made in an effort to "clear things up" regarding the events at the Morgan Ranch. The writer bemoaned the fact that Hollywood was "exploiting this tragedy with a film," and felt it was time to tell what really happened. Actual written content on the site was quite sparse--the importance of the site as a source of information was the wealth of supplementary materials (in the form of newspaper articles and medical documents) that it provided.
"At one time the Morgan Ranch boasted one of the Pacific Northwest's top stables," the narrator continued. "Now it has become a sideshow."
From the main page, the website branched into three sections:

Meet Samara
"The fact is," the main page concluded, "a child went missing, and a loving mother committed suicide from grief. I try to spend the summer here each year and clean up a bit. Over the years I've researched the newspaper files at the local library, talked to local fisherman, and even interviewed the doctor who attended to Samara. You can see a few things I found out."
LEARN MORE ABOUT THE MORGAN RANCH
I remember how life used to be. Everyone was so happy then. She [Anna] and Richard were the most successful horse breeders that this area has ever known. At one time Anna reached the finals in the Puget Sound Rodeo and went on the compete on the national jumping circuit.
That was before the tragedy that struck the horses and the ranch, and before the local fisherman started blaming their bad luck on my Aunt.
She only loved her horses, and she would never have done anything to harm them. As far as the poor fishing I think it had more to do with the red tide than any possible curse.
SEE WHAT REALLY HAPPENED
The problems at the Morgan Ranch really started when my Aunt Anna and Richard came home one afternoon to find out a few of the more high strung animals had jumped the fence. Searching around they found that they had run to the Puget Sound and drowned themselves. No reason seemed readily apparent. They thought nothing more of it until they noticed that the remaining horses were now acting as strange as the ones that had drowned themselves.
At that point they alerted the local Sheriff since none of it seemed to make any sense. The authorities found it mystifying enough that they brought in University of Washington researchers. The researchers seemed to think it might be a fungus in the grass, but that never seemed to prove true. A prominent veterinarian recommended quarantining the ranch. That is when the real problems began, and the rumors started. All sorts of possibilities were raised, and from that moment on until the day my Aunt committed suicide anything that went wrong seemed to be blamed on the occurrences at the Morgan Ranch.
MEET SAMARA
My cousin Samara was the shining light of Anna and Richard's life, that was before the horrible rumors started. Why so much was blamed on the innocent child I'll never understand. And now this film is coming out that features her as an electronic demon. Samara certainly had some problems, and Anna had taken her to specialists but nothing like the stories that are being told. Samara was an unusual child suffering from a psychiatric and neurological condition, and she had trouble sleeping. Beyond that she was a normal child who enjoyed her dolls and watched too much television.
