In early 1998, a film made for just 1.2 million dollars would become the horror sensation of the year, smashing records in Hong Kong, Singapore and its native Japan. That film was the Ring (aka Ringu), and by 2002 it had been remade in both Korea and the United States, with the film's villainess -- whether known as Yamamura Sadako, Eun-Suh or Samara Morgan -- fascinating and terrifying moviegoers across the globe. This site is dedicated to the Ring in all its incarnations: the films, original novels, television specials, comic books and more.
RING NEWS
Discovery Channel to examine Ring -- update
23 September. As previously mentioned, I was contacted a few months ago by a Singaporean TV station producing a documentary on Ring and other examples of J-horror. Editing on this special is almost complete, upon which it will be delivered to the Discovery Channel for inclusion in its lineup. While I was unfortunately unable to participate in the filming, long-time members of the Ring forum will recognize a certain disco-loving individual who agreed to take my place.
English-language Birthday coming soon
17 September. Birthday, the last entry in Suzuki Koji's Ring series, will see its North American release this December. See here for more.
